Family Photos | Big Lake, MN

Summer is here, everyone! This week in Minnesota it’s been beautiful outside with temps ranging in the high 60s to low 70s with a cool and gentle breeze. Well, on most days the breeze has been gentle….But not last week when I went to visit the Sherburne National Wildlife Refuge with Izzy and Tori!

We spent some time on the walking trails with their dogs, catching up on how their lives have changed since Tori and Izzy got married last summer. It was nice to spend a beautiful evening together, even though we were getting absolutely eaten alive by mosquitoes.

The wildlife refuge is such a beautiful place to visit. All along the road we could see herons, deer, families of geese, and muskrat enjoying sunshine. The trails are easy to walk through and I know I’ll be back a few times this summer to enjoy the wildflowers as they bloom.
We spent about two hours together on this session and they opted to pick their own outfits for a casual summertime feel in the photos.

Tori and Izzy are truly wonderful humans, and I am lucky enough to have photographed them several times since meeting them. I love their rambunctious energy and you can clearly tell they are wildly in love with each other.

Hanging out with Tori and Izzy definitely got me excited for summertime in Minnesota. Once I stock up on an ample supply of bug spray, I plan on spending more time enjoying the beauty in my own backyard.

A personal project I have in mind for this summer is to photograph all of the delicious meals we will make and then bind them into a makeshift cookbook for myself.
What plans do you have for summer? Any areas of Minnesota I should add to my summertime bucket list? Let me know!

Rock On,
Meg
